The main problem with sponsorships is that it’s been well over a year since this trend began, yet we still don’t know what to make of it. You’d think that by now we’d have some concrete details about what the players and sponsors are getting out of it, right? But everyone talks in such vague terms that we still can’t tell if the players are getting paid in cash, free t-shirts, or taco bell coupons.
Another fine production. Seems like we’re still a ways away from even the best players making a living off of winning fighting game tournaments but at least sponsors seem to be getting the best players out to more tournaments that they may not have otherwise been able to make it to. Some trivia: I asked RedRapper to help out with the TRUST demo video, and we might have had somethin but he must have been busy with this at the time.
Since streams are this big thing, you’d think that they’d just start having fighting game sponsored streaming equipment or some such. The equipment seems there, rather than just the fight sticks, though… yeah, I still don’t know what this sponsorship thing is supposed to mean in the long run. I know a few folks who say they play solely for the money/fame and they’ve ended up looking silly as time has gone on.
I liked the production values on this video itself, and it was a decent snapshot at a WC scene. Only issue is I feel like I ended up walking away more confused than anything.
“Yeah, this is a good thing!”
“What the hell is it?”
