I really enjoy the soundtrack, and the combos look nice. That said, it seems a lot like the Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game combo section of the Guile vid. which just makes it look like the game is borken – I have no experience with the 2 players on the screen at once glitch.

Oh SFTM is broken as all hell, and so is MvC1 to be honest – especially with two active characters at once in a combo video setting. It’s just a matter of whether the video shows anything stylish or creative that speaks through the broken chaos.

I think some of the combos in this video accomplished that, but unfortunately most of them were too long and had too much filler, which takes focus away from the imaginative parts. Personally if i was making a video like this, i’d either cut down the number of combos so i could concentrate more on each one, or i would get rid of the mandatory 100% damage motif so i could just end combos when i ran out of fresh ideas. Either way, the video would be much shorter.

But that’s just me. Making this the Vid of Week for 01.17.2011 anyway!

Interesting you say that, Maj. I was thinking the same thing: I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities in this combo video. It’s a great video, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like there was room for a lot of really “wacky” and creative things you could have done. I really liked the Hulk / Wolverine part where Hulk launched them up to Wolverine’s Air Combo as well, for example. I think he might have used a Wall Jump for Wolvie to keep him up there. Stuff like that was very cool, most of it did just feel like “mashing” in a way even though that’s doing the guys who made this video a HUGE disservice: I know it’s not mashing, just wish there were a lot more craziness. Like with Strider, I feel like you could have made a combo full of wall dives and slashes off walls and bombs and cats and birds and stuff, but we never saw that.
