The character designs though, not so much. Most of them have like a fifty clothing accessories for no apparent reason – other than to look “different” and to show off high-res sprites i guess?

Too bad you can’t put generic army clothes + crazy haircut + flag tattoo on a random buff dude (and take away his eyebrows) and end up with an iconic original character anymore. They all gotta be fashion shows nowadays.
