Originally premiered at Evolution 2004, this video took something like two years to make. About half the clips were recorded by jchensor and about half by me, with a few outside contributions along the way. All of the editing was done by jchensor over a six-month period, since he came up with the whole premise.

I’ve re-encoded it for 720p HD playback, but i’ve had to split it into three parts due to u2b’s 15-minute limit. (We found a lot of 2-hit combos.)
Ahhh thank you for uploading in good quality!
Exactly what I was thinking haha. Yeah the only other version was on Google Video right? And kinda pixelated.
No problem, had to be done sooner or later. The main reason it took so long was because jchensor wanted to rerender the whole thing, but could never find the time to do it. With a project this massive, even storage space becomes an issue, and something always goes wrong.
I convinced him to let me upload the high-quality version of the old file in the meantime, until he gets around to remastering it or whatever. I just keep having to refer to this video for examples and whatnot. It was irritating to put up with the poor quality versions that random people have uploaded.
I still have no idea who uploaded it to video.google and the guy who uploaded it to u2b didn’t even bother cutting between segments. He just cut it in thirds. So damn sloppy. Anyway i asked him to take it down so hopefully he’ll cooperate.
Unfortunately i still had to cut it into three segments, because the halfway transition isn’t static. You know that part where SFA3 double-Balrog transitions into SF3:2I Necro by flickering to the beat of the next song? I couldn’t cut in the middle of that. I could’ve probably posted it in two segments (7min and 15min) but jchensor thought it’d be nicer to maintain symmetry and chop it down to three.
Anyway it cost me two days of dealing with the inevitable technical difficulties, but i think it turned out alright. It looks pretty nice in 720p, right? Even looks nicer in 360p than the other version that was on u2b.
By the way, trying to come up with individual highlights for a 300-clip video is damn near impossible. So i listed everything that came to mind as it played in the background, without providing timestamps, so everyone would do the sensible thing and ignore what i wrote to watch the video.
Now i have to know exactly how many combo clips it was. Let’s see …
10 (intro) + 38 + 70 + 42 + 83 + 52 + 11 (credits) = 306?
That’s not counting individual combos, because several clips contained multiple combos. In fact, i think we ended up with around 500 raw clips, so quite a few of them got left out for various reasons.
With that much material to sort through, let’s just say it’s a minor miracle that this video ever got completed. Thanks jchensor!
If I were to make a video with this theme these days, I’d be tempted to include SSFIV Gen’s Shitenketsu ultra, just for the silliness of its hit count.
Looks like u2b now allows videos longer than 15 mins, so i’ve reuploaded the whole thing in one piece without any interruptions. Way to go u2b – took ya’ll long enough.
