Hi, my first post here. We’ve been working on this small community video which is mostly a post-mortem tribute to a combo maker and friend, CyberIori, who sadly passed away not long ago. The idea of the producer, Killer Knight was to gather some SNK community members in the Spanish forums of CX, KOF No Dead and KoFFuneral and release this small homage with a theme based in combos of Iori Yagami only.

Many of the dudes shown have never done a combo video before and some stuff is even basic. This time we were not requesting high level skilled combos or something fancy or highly elaborated (even though some stuff, fortunately, impressed us), just simply a way to participate and show respects to our friend.

It’s amazing that you guys made this. I don’t think i’ve seen anything like it. My respects to CyberIori. I didn’t know him personally but i’ve seen his name in a few KoF vids i’ve watched.
The video itself turned out great. I didn’t think it was repetitive at all, which is difficult to pull off with one character over 10 minutes. And seeing Iori combo to the beat at 5:52 was unexpectedly cool. For some reason i really liked the stillness at 6:13 too.
You’ll excuse my rude tone, but…how is this one any different to the dozens of pre KoF XII combo vids out there?
What’s wrong with the dozens of pre KoF XII combovids out there?
Well from what I’ve seen they tend to have the same format for performing the exhibition combos, to the point that…well its like saying ‘If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all’.
Maybe in terms of presentation, but there’s always some new content, right? At least this one had some stuff i’d never seen before.
And yeah, they aren’t doing themselves any favors by making the videos so damn long, but it still takes a ridiculous amount of work to put something like this together. Whatever the problem is, it’s certainly not a lack of effort.
Anyway if this is the format the SNK community prefers, then that’ll have to be fine with me. Can’t blame someone for wanting to make videos with their friends.
Making this the Vid of Week for 09.20.2010 – partly because it seems like the right thing to do. And mainly because it’s a genuinely good video despite the usual criticisms (too long, too much editing, etc.)
