That’s understandable. With these kinds of massive projects, usually the editor only contributes one or two combos, so they want to add their own artistic stamp through editing.

That creates a lot of unnecessary junk which will always draw negative feedback. Then their feelings get hurt and it becomes even harder to convince them that “less is more.” That cycle is hard to break.

Still, this type of editing is unpopular. That’s a fact. But like i said, even if you kept it clean there’s no guarantee that the video would become popular because these games are so old now. It’s hard to get exposure for anything that isn’t on current-gen consoles.

As ai told Vecta, It is good see places when the people comment the works with rich details, the people only can evolute when know what do the public wanna see.

This CMV’s reason is to say “good bye” to moonless, and iCebounD_ING, his friend in real life, edited it with animes, because it is their cultures. They are in China, so, I don’t have anything to say about it. I don’t like animes into CMVs, but it entertain them. And the focus was Moonless. So…

I didn’t appreciate some parts of edition too, I agree with all of you.

In these days, it is very hard find one good video editor, who can do all that we hope.

It is a fact, then, it is better have a medium editor than don’t have anyone.

We saw in past good editors editing good and bad stuff, and I don’t know why, but they stopped.

At least, the medium video editors exist, and the scene of CMVs is alive.

Really a waste of talent, the combos were pretty damn good, specially the 2k2 Mature one that was by far my favourite… but the editing and the music…common dudes, be serius.

There is a 2001 glitch that allows infinite bars.

Combos:
Indeed shows tons of talent and even lot more depth into the new properties, bugs and situations found recently in the engines of KOF. I’m glad to see there’s still creative minds who wants to dig from old to new games all alike and doing some good job on it. Mature vs Choi combo in 2002 was certainly one of my favorite of all of them since I always wanted to use Mature’s fb in a set up and I see somebody else could do it with tons of creativity involved. In general the content t’s quite entertaining.

Music:
Too otaku’ish for my personal tastes. And I feel personally aggravated that you guys used a track (Hoobastank’s Out of control) that became an icon from a super classic CMV: K’rows – Out of Control. I dunno you guys but for me that song belongs to that video and nothing else.
All and all didn’t sound bad the scheme, was enjoyable and didn’t make me turn off the speakers for once.

Edition:
The edition work wasn’t bad, in fact has tons of elements that give it a good look, perhaps it bothered me a bit that all the combos were zoomed in? I dunno, it looked weird the borders and not sure if I really could appreciate the combos well. Also, I do have a gripe with the extreme otaku theme with unrelated anime bullfuck showing there that has little to nothing to do with a KOF theme and looked out of place in my eyes. Those are the elements that, IMHO, clouded a real awesome job in the combo department.

Overall, if it wasn’t by the out of place wapanese theme with unrelated anime clips showing in and there and the sadly stolen track from K’Row’s classic CMV, I’m sure this CMV could have reached higher levels in my eyes. The combo department was solid enough to make it enjoyable but still needed a more refined and eye friendly edition to please everyone’s tastes. IMO, a more standard edition would have done the job fine.

NO ANIME NO LIFE? GET A LIFE!

In this case, i think the editor doesn’t really care what we think. Anyone that puts “No Anime, No Life” at the end of their video is probably very committed to including random pointless anime regardless of how poorly it’s received.

Personally i don’t enjoy excessive editing, but at the same time it’s kind of hard for me to blame someone for making a video like this. They may as well have fun making it, right?

It has zero mainstream appeal anyway. I mean the whole video is so glitchy that you have to be a hardcore KoF fan to appreciate it (or at least someone who’s seen a lot of KoF combovids previously).

Maybe they feel like 1000 views is their absolute ceiling? Then it’s not entirely reasonable for us to demand that they make the editing more mellow and accessible. Seems like they’ve given up on attracting a wide audience and want to be niche instead.

Are you referring to 1:45 or 4:10?

it’s not training mode or cheats, there’s a glitch that gets you infinite meters and assist

I really can’t stress enough how much I hate graphic overlays during the combos. I went into alternative ideas for crediting specific combos in a different thread, but having an Ultracombos logo spinning over the point character is just ridiculous. It turns off a wider audience and makes me less likely to even try to follow what’s going on – yes, in this case, it was Vice repeating the same action, but I might not know that in other combos/situations. The second part had even bigger overlays (the red/white splatter). I also don’t get why some combos don’t have audio, but I’ll pretend it’s an artistic choice instead of an inability to get a contributor to capture without the native soundtrack; some videos (luckily, not this one really) By the way, what’s with the gradient/forced aspect ratio at the top and bottom? Some videos even have discontinuous levels of video quality – this one does not, thank god.

Also, this is more general, as I see it in way more than just SNK-game-based vids, but the whole “showing parts of combos” during intros is irritating; am I looking at something that should be skipped as it might be spoiling the later combos, or is it material that didn’t make the cut? Even 538 of KYSG has done this once or twice. It’s frustrating, because if I don’t dig the intro music or graphic design, I either sit through it or skip to a point where maybe the combos really start.

I’m not blaming anybody specifically here as it happens all the time, but I think you can create a much larger community for your respective games if you keep things looking cleaner. rock2no’s recent KoF ’95 video had a few things I personally didn’t like (the soundtrack, a few purple text overlays), but the combos were captured well, and shown in full. If I felt like more people were open to KoF/SNK games, this wouldn’t be a problem, but I know people in the larger fighting game communities are turned off by the complaints I’ve listed above.

Hm, has everyone given up on legit KoF99/2k/2k1 combos? The last few videos i’ve seen, the meters and assist limits were set to infinite through Training Mode or cheats or whatever. Just wondering.
